Camellia Glen Nursery is a specialist Camellia, Azalea and Vireya Rhododendron grower located at Palmwoods on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, supplying retail nurseries and the landscape industry as well as the public through direct sales. In recent times, we have decreased the number of azalea and Vireya rhododendron we have been propagating to the stage that we no longer have these available for general sales.
Established in 1994, Camellia Glen Nursery is renowned for the extensive range of Camellia varieties, cultivars and species that it has available, and in growing Camellias that are better suited to the warm and humid weather experienced in the sub-tropical climate of South East Queensland.
This site is specific to Camellias and Vireyas and includes Camellia and Vireya descriptive lists, some basic culture notes on how to grow Camellias and Vireyas, particularly in warmer areas, an explanation on some of the Camellia species and a photo gallery of many of the Camellias and Vireya Rhododendron that we grow.
Our current plant list contains some 50 Sasanqua camellia varieties, about 150 Japonica and hybrid camellia varieties, a small number of Reticulata camellias and some of the species camellias that are suited to our general area.
All our plants are grown from cuttings taken from stock grown in our own garden and from select private and public gardens where the authenticity of the variety is known. All our varieties are tried and proven for our area. We still attempt to grow some varieties that prove a challenge in our climate, just because we can.
